The simplicity of live baits
This kayak fishing report from Stephen Tapp and Milan from Big Angry Fish, covers the simple and effective technique of live bait fishing for kingfish from the Kayaks and how the Viking Profish tackle pod system can help you land the fish your targeting.
As with all great fishing stories it all begins with a short notice phone call from a mate…

Trip report from sales manager Jason - First Longtail Tuna from the kayak – After many hours on the water last season trying to land a Northern Bluefin (Longtail Tuna) with no success I finally landed one this season. Thanks to a culmination of those hours on the water and advice from other Sunshine Coast anglers my first attempt this season ended up with a 9kg Longtail on the line.
Here’s the report, full video below also.

He's been trying for about 2 years and finally this Easter weekend Jason Clendon from Northland NZ proved he could land that 20lb snapper from his 2.7m Viking Ozzie kayak. It certainly helps that Jason is a very competent kayak angler and he lives in one of the best snapper fisheries here in NZ but that said this is a massive achievement. Here’s the trip report form Jason

In this guest blog post from Paddle Guy we take a look at a different perspective on mothership kayak fishing.
Exploring the concept of kayak fishing using a trailer boat as a mothership
Here’s a different take on kayak fishing mother ship trips, yesterday fishing with my boys for Father’s Day in the 6m Fyran, I loaded the 2.7m Viking Kayaks Ozzie into the boat with the intention of using it to paddle into the shallows and gather a feed of Green Lipped Mussels.
When ask for a trip report from Cove to Cape Stephens reply was breif --"The only story I have is a fisherman's one..."
The wind on day one (30knots gusting 40) kept us from executing "Plan-A" so we headed off to our reserve location. Here the wind can make for hard work but there are more safety options if something unexpected happens. Fishing was initially slow but not without opportunities, and unfortunately I can claim the classic "one that got away" wooden spoon award...
On the sounder I saw a beautiful arch… more

July 4th Weekend – How Offshore Kayakers Celebrate Independence day
To most of us in the United States and specifically Texas, the 4th of July Holiday is synonymous with Bar-B-Que, Beer, beaches, and fireworks displays. The Texas offshore crowd sees the 4th as an opportunity to hit the Texas coast in search of adventure. With time off from work and school, we look to the surf for our relaxation. Summer months here on the Coastal bend of Texas bring us more predictable calm weather windows… more
"Haku gets a new owner"
I sold my Profish 440 named “Haku” to my mate John from Hamilton. It took a long 6 months before we got the chance to get out and for him to catch his first fish off the kayak. So we headed to the Coromandel Peninsula and by mid-morning he had 2 pannies in the back and he was having a ball in the near glass like conditions.
We were having some technical difficulties with his fishfinder so decided to turn it off and use my Lowrance on my kayak to put him onto fish. And fish there… more
