He's been trying for about 2 years and finally this Easter weekend Jason Clendon from Northland NZ proved he could land that 20lb snapper from his 2.7m Viking Ozzie kayak. It certainly helps that Jason is a very competent kayak angler and he lives in one of the best snapper fisheries here in NZ but that said this is a massive achievement. Here’s the trip report form Jason

Exploring the concept of kayak fishing using a trailer boat as a mothership
Here’s a different take on kayak fishing mother ship trips, yesterday fishing with my boys for Father’s Day in the 6m Fyran, I loaded the 2.7m Viking Kayaks Ozzie into the boat with the intention of using it to paddle into the shallows and gather a feed of Green Lipped Mussels.

"Haku gets a new owner"

So we headed to the Coromandel Peninsula and by mid-morning he had 2 pannies in the back and he was having a ball in the near glass like conditions.
We were having some technical difficulties with his fishfinder so decided to turn it off and use my Lowrance on my kayak to put him onto fish. And fish there… more
